Last Saturday, 01/28/2012, I was asked to put together a team and help clear ‘New Peak’ in Red Springs during a search for a local missing hiker.  (Was a search organized by civilians and friends of a missing hiker, not anything ‘official.’)  My team and I were asked to ascend the south face of the mountain, and proceed to clear all sides while pushing Northwest towards Turtlehead Peak.  It was a bit ‘tricky.’  Although we didn’t find any trace of the missing hiker, all 8 of my guys and I got home safe and we accomplished our task, clearing a very large portion of somewhat ‘technical’ terrain for the search organizers.
